It always seems to be one of Denver’s foggy and wet spring days, when I am most anxious to step into the warmth and smells of 240 Union Restaurant in Lakewood.
You can immediately see and observe the fine dining ambiance from the restaurants beautiful front doors.
The Chefs stand behind their long counter of grilles and flaming pans overlooking the tables of chatting customers and contemporary décor.
My table is elegant and my view along-side floor to ceiling windows makes this a bright and friendly setting to gather with friends.
Today is my special request, 240 cioppino ($16), made fresh per customer order. Its aromatic tomato base holds shrimp, oversized scallops, clams and savory mussels which help make the world melt away.
Seafood is what 240 Union is most noted for, but a hearty list of beef, pork, pasta and vegetarian cuisine will keep you turning the pages of their diverse menu.
Lunches for the business crowd buzz for the likes of pizzas, burgers, soup, salad, pastas, small and full size entrées ($3-$15).
Desserts include freshly made ice creams ($6), strawberry shortcake- with scalded cream cakes and marinated berries ($7), milk chocolate parfait ($7), chocolate moose cake- with berries and chocolate espresso beans!($7)…You MUST try this with a glass of Graham’s Six Grape Port!
Every detail is exact as the wait and work staff truly enjoy having you dine with them and tend to your requests.
Lunch to dinner elegance is transitioned with the magic of owner, Michael Coughlin’s, attentiveness and presence.
I always say, “If you see the owner, you see the reason for success.”
